Overview The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) seeks a Management Accountant to join us on a temporary full-time (35-hour week) basis to cover maternity leave. You will be based at our Cambridge Science Park office (free onsite parking and close to the guided bus and Cambridge North train station), with occasional travel to London or other locations and working from home possible. As a Management Accountant within our Business Support team within Finance, you will support our Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in delivering expert financial planning and analysis. Our Business Support teamwork closely together with each of our business units to become trusted financial advisers within the Royal Society of Chemistry, providing financial support, business analysis, management reporting and customer focussed financial information and supporting the implementation of a new finance system. With no direct reports and considerable autonomy, you will closely co-operate with members of the Business Support team and other stakeholders across the organisation. With your excellent inter-personal skills, you will be comfortable managing a number of diverse projects, working proactively, making recommendations and being an effective representative of our Finance function in its interaction with the wider RSC. We are looking for: Essential: •Qualified ACA/ACCA/ACMA/CIPFA accountant or equivalent preferred. Part-qualified with significant work experience will be considered. •Detailed knowledge of current applicable Accounting Standards including all relevant Charity reporting requirements as set out in the latest SORP. •Make informed judgments regarding the accounting treatment of income and expenditure. •Ability to interpret accounting reports, highlight issues, resolve and / or explain any variances or unusual items to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at review meetings. •Experience of using computerised accounting systems including ideally; Sun Accounts and Q&A 10. •Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, to pivot table level. •An analytical approach with excellent attention to detail. •Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. •A proactive approach to problem solving. Desirable: •Excellent communication skills to support and influence stake holders across the organisation. •Show confidence in dealing with external parties e.g. auditors, members, honorary officers etc. •Strong financial planning and analysis experience including for example acquisitions and product development.
