Whether it's performance or conflicts, having too many plug ins can cause a lot of issues; with a few examples this talk will show a couple of simple ways to remove and replace plugins with your own stripped down code fully integrated with your theme to help stop these issues from arising.

Presented by Chris Butterworth

With a career spanning nearly 10 years working with WordPress, Chris has experienced a lot when it comes to the great, the good and the not-so-good parts of WordPress development.

As the Head of Digital for the District (https://www.thedistrict.co.uk/) in Cambridge, Chris leads the day to day development as well as constantly learning and trying to pass on the knowledge he has.

Aimed primarily at developers and confident fiddlers with code, this talk gets you thinking about when to use a plugin or when a plugin is simply overkill. With examples varying from the simple to the complex this talk isn't about giving instruction - although there are snippets - but to get you thinking about making your next project better.
