We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible Senior Technician / Research Associate to join the Cell Line Development team at our Cambridge site in the UK. This position plays a key role in progressing our research activities and generation of high expressing clonal cell lines for delivery to our Manufacturing plant at Berkley, California.
Role Responsibilities
The scope of hands-on involvement will cover molecular and cell biology activities for generating mammalian cell lines expressing recombinant proteins, including:
Co-ordinating requests and materials for transient and stable cell line protein expression.
Maintaining stocks of mammalian cell culture (incl. HEK293, CHO and Jurkat).
Routine laboratory procedures such as vector construction, DNA purification and quantification, bacterial transformation, and DNA sequencing and analysis.
Managing resources for a small tissue culture lab.
Concisely and in a timely manner document experiments and results using electronic laboratory notebooks.
Contribute to the development of protocols.
In addition, you will have a keen eye for detail, a willingness to learn and a “can do” attitude. You will work and communicate well within a small team and be responsible for coordinating with facilities staff to ensure the smooth running of the tissue culture lab.
Qualifications
A BSc or MSc degree, or native equivalent, in a biology or biotechnology discipline or 1 to 3 years of relevant experience gained from working in industry.
Experience
Experience with and maintenance of cell culture using aseptic techniques.
Some experience in molecular biology would be advantageous, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
Confident grasp of software packages such as Microsoft Office and data recording. Further experience with related software packages a benefit.
