Overview
The Royal Society of Chemistry is looking for an intern to work as a science writer in our editorial office this summer. You will gain experience working for our publication Chemistry World. This eight week position, supported by the Marriott Bequest Trust, will provide a hands-on introduction to the complete editorial process from writing and editing to page layout and printing.
We are looking for:
With an interest in science communication, you’ll demonstrate an enthusiasm for writing and will probably be coming towards the end of, or have recently completed, your chemical science degree or postgraduate course. If that sounds like you, please apply online before the end of our closing date.
You will need your CV accompanied by a letter describing how you would benefit from the experience, as well as three varied samples of your previously published written work. If you don’t have any available samples, compose some of your own Chemistry World-style news pieces based on recent journal papers or current events.
Please upload or include a working link to electronic examples of three writing samples, in the same file as your application letter or CV before the end of our closing date. You will be asked to copy and paste your letter into a text box nearer the end of the application process. Please indicate the dates that you are available in your letter.
