Science Media Producer

  • Closing date 18 Apr 2022
  • Type Full-time
  • Duration Permanent

Chemistry World is looking for a Science Media Producer to deliver and expand our live online events and multimedia.

As our Science Media Producer, you’ll be responsible for planning and delivering live online events covering chemistry and topical issues, both with external partners and our colleagues across the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). You’ll have a keen eye for a hot science topic and look for themes, people and organisations to work with to deliver engaging presentations and get the global chemistry community involved in discussion.

We’re looking for a confident presenter who can inspire that confidence in guests from across the chemistry community, guiding and interviewing speakers as well as moderating questions from a live audience. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our podcast and video products to support the wider aims of Chemistry World and the RSC.

Our ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • A background in science, journalism or science communication.
  • Experience presenting and moderating events for a scientific audience.
  • Experience with live streaming or webinars.
  • Knowledge of current affairs in chemical research and the wider scientific culture.

Desirable:

  • Experience of writing, editing and fact-checking scripts for podcast and video voiceover and web and social media content.
  • Familiarity with web publishing through content management systems and with audio and video editing (ideally using Adobe Creative Cloud) would also be beneficial.

The RSC supports development and offers excellent benefits. The contractual base for this role is our Cambridge office, however we are currently embracing hybrid working, and therefore you will have the opportunity to work from a location other than this within the UK, as agreed with your line manager. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend the offices as needed for their role.
