Phage Display Scientist (Associate Scientist/Scientist I)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Scientist/Scientist I with a background in phage display to join the Antibody Discovery Group at our Cambridge UK site. In this role you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the delivery of our in-house immuno-oncology therapeutic antibody programs. The position is predominantly laboratory based and you will contribute to projects from an early target evaluation stage through to post-candidate nomination to IND and beyond.

Key Skills

·         Expertise and proven track record in phage display technology (particularly with ScFv and Fab formats) including the generation of affinity maturation libraries

·         Expression and purification of antibody fragments in E. coli to allow their characterisation using a variety of assays (RBA, ELISA, Biacore etc) is highly desirable

·         Excellent understanding and practical experience of molecular biology skills including cloning, nucleic acid purification and quantification, PCR and sequencing analysis

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

 Responsibilities

·         Ability to design and implement phage display campaigns from naïve selections to affinity maturation with minimal supervision

·         Work closely in a matrix team to interpret complex data and select the best antibody candidates to take forward

·         Expected to give regular presentations locally, company-wide and to external collaborators

·         Work to existing SOPs and risk assessments and contribute to generating new ones as appropriate

·         Attention to detail and timely record keeping in maintaining an accurate electronic notebook, drafting reports and adherence to company policies

 Qualifications

·         Ph.D. in relevant scientific discipline with 0-1 year academic or ideally industry related experience; Master’s degree or native equivalent with 3+ years of directly related experience; or Bachelor’s degree or native equivalent in scientific discipline with 5+ years of related experience
