The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has an opportunity for a Career Information Administrator to join our Accreditation & Careers team on a permanent full-time (35-hour week) basis. You will initially work from home and then from our Cambridge Science Park office, very occasionally travelling and staying away from home overnight within the UK, in line with Covid-19 guidance.

As a Career Information Administrator for the RSC, you will assist with the delivery of career management activities. This will include being the first point of contact for members emailing the Careers inbox and updating our web pages with our forthcoming activities. In addition you will support the team with its award-winning mentoring programme, tailored one-to-one consultations, online career information, monthly report and webinars, and insights into the employment and remuneration of people working within the sector. These services are delivered by a team of Career and Professional Development Advisers who also manage an online Directory of Consultants and run targeted career events such as those approaching retirement, postdocs or those facing redundancy.
We are looking for:
Essential:
- Excellent organisational skills and good project and time management skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise work, and to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Customer focussed approach with excellent verbal and written skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a member of diverse teams and on one’s own.
- Excellent IT skills and abilities.
- Experience of writing for the internet, and familiar with digital media and technologies, including an interest in e-learning and the use of social media.
- Keen interest in science, scientists and the culture and aims of the RSC.
- Can demonstrate tact, diplomacy and aware of issues of confidentiality and data protection.
- Close attention to detail and high standards of excellence.
Desirable:
- A degree in science.
- Online editorial skills.
