Main purpose of the job

We are looking for an engineering, science or computer science undergraduate to work in a team on client assignments developing software for a wide range of wireless systems and products. The sort of software we write ranges from the electronics/software boundary to apps for the latest iOS and Android devices.

A bright, enthusiastic undergraduate who wants to learn more about these technologies would be an ideal candidate for the role.

Our work ranges from high volume consumer applications such as mobile devices, through to professional high-performance systems including the air traffic control radios used to govern the US airspace.

This breadth of wireless activity provides tremendous variety to our team members.

The Software Group in the Wireless Division works closely with other disciplines to develop cutting-edge software. Team sizes tend to be small and are made up of highly skilled engineers.

The group carries out software design and architecture, as well as coding, usually in C. Other languages are used, such as Python, Objective C and Java, as required.

 

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop software for a range of Wireless systems
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams on projects for clients
  • Writing embedded software in C

Minimum requirements

To meet the requirements of this role you have completed at least two years of study in Engineering, Computer Science (or a closely related subject) at a top university which allows you to take a placement year in industry.

You will have:

  • Good ‘A’ level results
  • Experience of writing embedded software in C
  • Good communication skills

In addition, any experience of the following would be advantageous;

  • Windows / Linux / iOS programming
  • A scripting language
  • User interface design
  • Understanding of wireless communications systems
