Applications are open for the next accelerator at the CW 5G Testbed

  • Date 31 Jan 2022

Two twelve-week accelerators have now been completed on CW’s Cambridge-based 5G testbed and our team is on the hunt for new partners to join our third accelerator, starting March 2022.

We previously worked with solution providers to validate 5G in their products. For our next programme, we wish to engage directly with businesses with real digital transformation challenges and opportunities and bring together the solutions and partners to address these.

Some of the results achieved by previous residents of the testbed include:

- Connectivity cost reduction and efficiencies (flexibility/capacity) in manufacturing/process sites with up to 50% saving compared with cost of fixed infrastructure deployment
- New revenue streams enabled for the gaming solution based on “pop-up location”, advertising and enhanced spectator experience
motorway safety monitoring capabilities to reduce accident response times and save lives
- Other highlights include residents being featured in high profile media outlets such as the ITV, BBC, Forbes, Reuters and The Economist.

For full details on accelerator outcomes, visit the CW 5G Testbed page for in-depth videos and case studies.

The CW 5G Testbed had recently been enhanced to include upgrades from 5G NSA to SA & NSA, along with the capability needed to operate C-IoT services and applications. The network has also been extended to provide both indoor and outdoor 5G coverage near the testbed’s offices on the Cambridge Science Park.  Residents receive bespoke engineering support to speed up the integration of 5G into their products, as well as dedicated mentorship from industry experts to assist in the creation of a powerful commercial proposition for 5G.

If you would like to be involved in the next twelve-week programme please contact Abhi Naha, CCO of CW, for further information.
