We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Associate/Scientist I (one-year temporary position with possibility of extension) to join the Antibody Discovery group in our recently established R&D facility in Cambridge. This role can either be part or full-time, ranging from 75-100%-Please state your preferred working time in your application)
As a Scientist within the Assay Development and Screening Team you will contribute to advancing innovative technologies and projects to support the generation of therapeutic biologics in the Immuno-Oncology field.
Contribute to project progression by using biochemical and cell-based screening assays to identify antibodies with characteristics meeting the Therapeutic Target Profile.
Develop, evaluate, optimize and implement novel technologies and methods for process improvement.
Play a key role in the decision-making process to select best antibody candidates to take forward.
Expected to work independently liaising closely with colleagues within the project team and across functional groups. Maintain clear and efficient communication.
Collate results, manage antibody data within the project and contribute to report where applicable.
Maintain a current and accurate laboratory record (lab notebook) of all activities.
Expected to give regular presentations.
Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials.
MSc with >5-7 years industrial experience or PhD in a biological science/biochemistry discipline.
Experience with biochemical assays such as ELISA, Luminex, HTRF, mirrorball or alphascreen
Practical knowledge of working with mammalian cell culture techniques
Experience with cell-based assays e.g. reporter assays, flow cytometry, mediator release
Determination of drug EC50 and IC50
Experience of using BIAcore for affinity determination and/or screening would be an advantage
Molecular biology and cell culture skills for making transient and stable cell lines is a bonus
Experience in an industrial setting is desirable
Ability to work independently and in a team
Highly autonomous and productive in performing laboratory experiments or method development
Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to manage several projects simultaneously and to adjust to changing priorities
Excellent analytical skills and capacity to analyse large amount of data, good attention to details
Excellent communication skills with presentation of work and data as well as sharing experience with others
