Vocational Registration Specialist

We are looking for a Vocational Registration Specialist to join us on a temporary full-time basis to cover maternity leave, at our Cambridge Science Park office. Core hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday but may be flexible as long as you can maintain a 35-hour week and the requirements of this role, including UK travel. 

You will be an integral part of the Accreditation and Qualifications team with the key objective of supporting the Royal Society of Chemistry in enhancing our offering for vocational and technical education. The role encompasses five key responsibilities:   

  1. Foster and develop strong relationships with employers and learning providers to enhance our understanding of vocational and technical routes within the chemical sciences sector, and provide advice and support to those key stakeholders in respect of vocational/technical routes and the evolving landscape.
  2. Actively promote and sell the professional awards of RSci (Registered Scientist) and RSciTech (Registered Science Technician) to learning providers, employers and individuals and engage with other RSC departments to further this offering.
  3. Instigate and project manage activities that can lead to an increase in RSciTech and RSci applications.
  4. Manage the full application process for individuals applying for the professional awards of RSci/RSciTech.
  5. Fully project manage the process for education awards, including managing the budget, co-ordinating judging panels and ensuring delivery to strict timeframes. 

You will be expected to: 

  • Possess a first degree or equivalent in chemical science (a higher degree is desirable).
  • Be (or eligible to be) a Member (MRSC) and Chartered professional status.
  • Have likely consolidated their knowledge of science and developed professional key skills through postgraduate employment.
  • Have a wide understanding of the science professions and the variety of people employed within them.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the range of organisations that employ chemical scientists.
  • Possess an understanding of vocational and technical education across the UK.
  • Knowledgeable of professional education and lifelong learning activities.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Able to deliver multiple projects in parallel and involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills including the delivery of presentations/workshops to varying audiences.
  • Critically apply knowledge and demonstrate an ability to evaluate data relating to education and training in an accurate and equitable manner.
  • Interact and network competently with RSC colleagues, members on committees, peers at other professional bodies, employers of chemists and senior university/learning provider staff.
