UX Designer (permanent)

About the role

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced UX Designer to join us on a permanent basis. This is a unique opportunity for you to help shape and define our ecommerce customer experience and play a key part in creating engaging user experiences.

You will typically have solid experience of agile environments and work streams, be able to adapt to teams and requirements quickly, with an in-depth design capability that allows for flex at pace.

You will be based out of our HQ on Cambridge Science Park to start with. We are relocating to brand new facilities on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in January 2019. About Digital Marketing at Abcam

The Digital Marketing team is made of passionate talents who are highly committed to our ecommerce customer experience across desktop, tablet and mobile by delivering intuitive and engaging user experiences.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Design high-fidelity prototypes using Axure and contribute to other areas of UX including; research, user journeys, testing, wireframes and all to a high level
• Support UX, UI, Dev and QA teams, which operate in a fast-paced agile environment and understand the importance of excellent time management and delivery
• Exceed users’ expectation with designing experiences by using a mix of design capability, collaboration and utilizing customer data
• Proactively collaborate on sprint planning, identifying UX priorities and requirements with Product Owners and Project Managers
• Balance user needs with business goals and technical capabilities
• Keep abreast of latest practices, techniques and emerging technologies within the industry and employ these to develop ideas and inspire creative concepts

About you

• Degree or experience in User Experience Design or related area
• Extensive design capability and delivery is a must, pairing with UI and Development teams when required 
• High attention to detail delivering cross-platform for desktop, tablet and mobile
• An understanding of code and can communicate with developers to convey UX led ideas, empathising with and representing the user during the process
• You utilize UX design tools to deliver, such as Axure (or similar) and JIRA (knowledge an advantage) 
• Experience designing for e-commerce environments will be an advantage 
• We are looking for a proactive individual that demonstrates the drive and desire to deliver high quality UX design projects
