Software Developer

Job description

Vix Technology are looking for a Software Developer to develop new and maintain existing web software products. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Development of software products and components
• Assist in the design, testing and documentation of products and components
• Working in an Agile framework using Scrum methodology
• 3rd Line Support of software products 

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

• Experience of developing with:

o   Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (C#/ASP.NET)

o   HTML5, CSS 3

o   JavaScript and jQuery

o   SQL (T-SQL / SQL Server)

• Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science or electronics.
• Knowledge of object orientated design and development principles.
• Use and knowledge of source control applications.
• Use and knowledge of debug tools and techniques.
• Web Services and corresponding protocols

Desirable

• Experience of using :

o   JavaScript Frameworks e.g. D3

o   LINQ

o   OpenLayers / Mapping APIs

o   Silverlight (for some older components)

o   Windows Services

• Unit testing (NUnit, QUnit), Mocking frameworks (moq)
• Automated build / testing (i.e. TeamCity, msbuild)

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

• Proven organisational and work prioritisation skills.
• Understands the professional development process and becomes actively involved by setting challenging goals and meeting them through continuous learning.
• Actively applies feedback received to day-to-day work and strives to improve performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable

• Working in an agile environment, especially Scrum
