Senior Impact Partnerships Manager

Do great work that actually matters.

Overview

Simprints builds identification systems for the "last mile" that integrate accurate, safe, and robust biometric technology into existing mobile tools. We are working at the exciting interface of biometrics, technology and international development. Our goal is to radically disrupt the inaccurate way we currently track and deliver essential services, instead building a world where every person—not guesswork—counts in the fight against poverty.

We are looking for a Senior Impact Partnerships Manager who can help us increase our portfolio of impact partners around the world - NGOs, social enterprises, and governments. You are confident, passionate, reliable, deeply collaborative, a quick learner, and thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment. From one day to the next you might be meeting with senior officials of an NGO in Washington DC, scoping a cash transfer project for refugees across East Africa, negotiating the final terms of a partnership for a nation-wide project with a Ministry of Health, or presenting on stage in India to hundreds of ICT4D specialists.   Simprints is planning to go from grant funded to 100% earned revenue driven by 2020, something few, if any, social enterprises have achieved to date. To achieve this, we are constantly innovating in the way we achieve our bottom line of impact and financial sustainability. Join us in this senior role, and you would be at the very heart if this exciting and meaningful journey.

Why Simprints?

Life is short. We believe work should be awesome, meaningful, and fun. At Simprints, we’re taking on global development’s biggest challenges, powered by an amazing culture and incredible people. Work with us, and you will grow faster, learn more, and take on greater responsibilities than at nearly any other job.

  • Work that matters. No matter what role you take, from writing code to running field tests, you’re playing a crucial part in improving lives in the poorest parts of the world.

  • Massive, interesting challenges. We’re taking on the biometrics industry to build open-source, accessible tools for frontline mobile operators. We don’t do “boring”.

  • Learn like it’s your job. Because here at Simprints, it is. Learning objectives, external mentors, and a significant dedicated education budget you can use for any courses, trips, or projects that power your personal and professional development.

  • Work flexible hours. More efficient late at night? Better before the sun rises? That’s fine by us. We are looking for people who get the job done, not people who work between 9am and 5pm.

  • Unlimited paid time off.

  • Fun, fast-paced Scrum culture.

  • Quarterly ‘Lego’ days where you can work on any project you want.

  • Free gym memberships and additional wellness budget.

  • Free healthy breakfast and snacks.

  • Coolest office in Cambridge (the Bradfield Centre - think ‘mini-Google’) with additional flexibility to work from our London office too.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Conduct meetings and calls with potential impact partners to identify their pain points and challenges, and explore how Simprints can add value to their work.

  • Own, continuously improve, and manage our client pipeline from start to finish: screening, qualifying, quoting, negotiating.

  • Draft, test, and implement sales collaterals such as project quotes, in-person presentations, and scopes of work.

  • Create lasting relationships through outbound work at industry events, conferences, and deployment trips.

  • Support in developing, testing, and implementing business models that help Simprints maximise its impact while becoming financially sustainable.

  • Prepare and execute ICT4D events and business trips globally and build strong relationships with impact partners, policy makers, and thought leaders.

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Simprints customer relationship management (CRM - Salesforce) system to power and streamline our sales activities.

What skills do you need?

Technical Skills:

  • Sales. You are an experienced sales professional with the ability and drive to identify new B2B/B2G opportunities.

  • International Development experience. You have a demonstrated track record of commercial international development experience, preferably in tech4dev.

  • iNGO Knowledge. You have a strong working knowledge of the iNGO sector, and  understand what it takes to participate in open bids and land large scale contracts. Direct experience working with funding agencies is a plus.

  • Client focus. You are a warm and empathetic individual who understands how to build lasting positive relationships with people based on trust, respect, and reliability.

Human Skills:

  • High prioritisation and organisational skills. You understand time is our most valuable resource, and can manage it strategically to achieve maximum impact for our beneficiaries

  • Communications. You are an outward looking, confident communicator, in writing and verbal form. You have the ability to appropriately adapt your message to your audience, listen patiently, and ask thoughtful questions.

  • Analytic mindset. You are sharp with an ability to understand, structure, analyse, and rigorously solve problems you encounter.

  • Commitment. You are passionate about our cause and truly believe in its social impact. You know how to manage your time, when to ease off vs. when to go give it all and go the extra mile.

  • Integrity. You have a strong moral grounding and will not compromise on values under any circumstances.

  • Initiative. You can juggle several things at the same time, switch between tasks, and jump on whatever fire is burning most. You don’t mind picking up the phone to cold-call someone when needed.

  • Resilience. You are persistent and don’t allow setbacks to drag you down. Instead, you extract key learnings, turn them into opportunities for growth, and move on quickly.

  • Teamwork. You are independent and reliable, but also quick in asking for and extending help to others. You thoroughly enjoy working in a small, agile, fast-paced team.
