Cervevance is a pharmaceutical company harnessing a novel technology platform to deliver life-changing therapeutics for patients. Focused on neurological diseases, our strengths include a pipeline of novel discovery and clinical-stage compounds, as well as a proven team (for more information, see www.cerevance.com). Our UK research operation is seeking to appoint multiple Research Scientists based in our Cambridge UK facility (Cambridge Science Park). As part of the in vitro pharmacology and target validation teams, these roles will focus on the provision of biological data to support target selection, assay development and compound screening for advancing drug discovery projects.
Candidates should have previous experience in using recombinant cell systems and primary neuronal/glial cultures to develop biochemical and cell-based pharmacological assays. The successful candidate will be skilled in the development and use of robust microplate assays (96/384-well), such as luminescence/fluorescence-based formats to monitor compound binding, enzyme function and changes in cellular messengers (e.g. calcium and cAMP). These assays must be consistently performed to a high-quality standard to allow generation of reproducible compound profiling data. This role requires expertise in aseptic mammalian cell culture (ideally including BSL2), use of automated liquid handlers, plate readers and data analysis software. Knowledge of and experience of working with a range of target classes would be advantageous.
We expect candidates to be highly motivated, flexible and organised scientists with the ability to multi-task. Good interpersonal skills and a strong team ethic is essential as you will be integrated in a highly multidisciplinary drug discovery environment. Applicants should have a B.Sc. in a relevant biology related discipline, in addition to considerable laboratory expertise. Cerevance offers competitive salary and benefits packages.
