The company provides technology and services to its growing list of customers, enabling new product paradigms and use cases for a range of applications across consumer electronics, smart home appliances, automotive, digital signage, security and healthcare. We work with device manufacturers allowing them to upgrade and diversify with truly flexible electronics and tap into exciting new markets. FlexEnable has recently signed a Technology Transfer and Licensing deal with a leading Chinese display manufacturer to bring flexible organic LCD (OLCD) to mass production for the first time. The Role

 

 

 

FlexEnable is seeking an experienced Research Engineer to join the team that will contribute to state of the art display development, including materials testing, design work and metrology. This is a hands-on, practical engineering role, working with other inquisitive, innovative and exceptional engineers. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the potential to make a strong and high energy contribution to the company, proactively contributing to Continuous Improvement and driving excellence in Health & Safety. 

 

 

 

The role will incorporate a wide range of activities and responsibilities across technical project management, display metrology, display technologies, failure analysis, experiment design, implementation and analysis / reporting and management of Dark Room Laboratory.  The role will require travel within the UK and abroad to meet with business partners and customers. 

 

 

 

The Candidate

 

Qualifications

 

·       The position will require a BSc or higher in physics, chemistry, maths or relevant engineering discipline.

 

 

 

Experience that will be utilised in the role

 

·       Technical project management

 

·       Experience of working as part of project team, alongside multiple stakeholders and customers

 

·       Proven experience of issue resolution and project progression with third parties

 

·       Display metrology (using luminance meters, photodiodes, oscilloscopes, cameras and associated software)

 

o   Knowledge of display measurement techniques

 

·       Good understanding of display technologies; mostly LCD

 

o   Different modes of LC

 

o   Familiarity with LC cells and an understanding of the physics behind LC

 

o   Knowledge of OLED, electrochromic, electrophoretic and electrowetting

 

o   An understanding of active matrix

 

o   Knowledge of optical modelling

 

o   Experience of cleanroom fabrication processes

 

o   Knowledge of backlight LCD technology

 

·       Familiarity with transistor technologies an advantage

 

·       Previous failure analysis work an advantage

 

·       Programming experience an advantage

·       High attention to detail when designing, carrying out and reporting on experiments.

 

·       Strong problem solving skills, the ability to approach tasks in a structured manner and the tenacity to resolve on-going technical issues.
