Our Research Assistants are knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about science and making an impact in healthcare.
You’ll work for Karina Mak-Hannah, R&D Manager, and play an integral role undertaking a range of tasks and activities, such as new product and process development, design reviews, performing product investigations, and taking part in both internal and external audits.
Due to the nature of the projects, this role is suited to someone who is highly organised and will take pride in delivering high quality R&D work whilst suggesting process improvements to increase efficiency.
What we are looking for in you:
- A degree level qualification or equivalent as a minimum, in a biological or related science
- An understanding of fluorescent labelling of DNA and bacterial manipulations, culturing for the extraction of DNA to make FISH probes
- Experience of carrying out molecular biology techniques, such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Fluorescent in-situ Hybridisation (FISH) (desirable)
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment (desirable)
- A proactive and inquisitive approach with an interest and tenacity to solve problems
- The ability to use scientific knowledge to trouble shoot and solve problems
- A strong team player with good written and verbal communication skills
- An organisational methodical way of working with the ability to manage your workload and prioritise in a high-pressure environment
- Accuracy and care whilst working with exceptional attention to detail
What you’ll be doing for us:
- Supporting the introduction of new products, technologies and methodologies which either increase existing efficiencies or expand on the product portfolio
- Assisting with finding solutions to scientific and technical problems in the Company as they arise
- Planning and conduct experiments, analyse results and when required present progress to the R&D Team
- Writing experimental methods and results in Company laboratory notebooks using Quality guidelines and in a logical and concise manner that can be used in the future as reference material
- Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments and to disseminate any new information which benefit the Company
- Producing all required documents for relevant technical transfers
