The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) seeks a Planning & Performance Analyst (Finance) to join us on a permanent full-time (35-hour week) basis. You will be based in our Science Park Cambridge office, and will occasionally visit the RSC’s London office and attend external meetings.
As Planning & Performance Analyst within our Finance Team, you will support our Head of Business Planning & Performance with the enhancement and on-going delivery of integrated corporate services for Business Planning, Impact Reporting, Internal Audit, Performance Management and Risk Management.
You will work with managers, business partners and subject specialists across the Royal Society of Chemistry to develop and maintain a comprehensive view of organisational activity, performance and risk. You will be instrumental in promoting and maintaining the consistent and transparent articulation, evaluation and prioritisation of organisational strategies and initiatives. In addition, this role is crucial to the delivery of clear, relevant and timely financial and non-financial performance reporting, along with the optimisation and maintenance of strategic and operational risk registers. You will also support the delivery of internal audit projects as directed by the RSC’s Audit & Risk Committee.
With your experience of building strong relationships across an organisation, you will confidently represent the Finance team in this highly visible role.

We are looking for:
Essential:
- Ability to build a high level of organisational awareness and to influence across the organisation.
- Experience in a business-partnering or other business-facing role.
- Experience of leading or supporting key business management or financial management processes.
- Experience of supporting or delivering changes in organisational processes.
- Experience of delivering performance reporting to a high standard, within agreed timescales.
- Able to proactively identify and explain issues in organisational planning, performance and risk.
- Ability to interpret the results of financial and non-financial performance reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing skills.
- High attention to detail, with an aptitude for analysing data from a range of sources.
- Confident user of the MS Office suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Desirable:
- Qualified accountant (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience of preparing or evaluating business cases for new organisational initiatives.
- Experience of establishing or maintaining performance measures for organisations or projects.
- Experience of identifying organisational risks and managing or suggesting relevant mitigating actions.
- Experience of leading or supporting internal audit exercises.
- Confident user of financial planning and reporting software.
