Logistics Technician (6 months)

  • Closing date 30 May 2018
  • Type Full-time
  • Duration Temporary

About the Role

Abcam, a Cambridge-based life science organisation, is looking for two Logistics Technicians to join the Logistics team based on the Science Park, originally on a 6 months fixed-term basis with opportunities for becoming permanent. You will work as part of a diverse team responsible for receiving, storing, and shipping scientific products to leading researchers around the world. Working hours will either be 7am-3pm or 10am-6pm (37.5 hours per week).

You will ideally have previously worked in a fast-paced environment that requires high attention to detail. You are not afraid of change, quite the opposite, feel energised by it, and you take the initiative in learning new skills.

A typical day could include receiving stock from one of our global production facilities, then prioritising products for processing into one of our automated storage systems. You may spend the afternoon picking stock for customers, testing samples to ensure they meet our strict quality criteria, and preparing orders for our global customer base. There are new deadlines to work towards every day, and as the company grows, we are looking to achieve more each day!

#Big things are happening at Abcam every day so whatever your role, your work will support scientific discovery!

Development, Development, Development!

Once you are confident in the core processes, there are various areas where you could potentially take on new responsibilities and develop yourself. We have a Training Team, Mentor Programme, News Crew, and a variety of other opportunities. Along with our other Logistics Technicians, you will be a key part of our business and will be empowered to develop your skills and refine our processes.

The working environment is fun and fast-paced, with everybody working together to deliver great service to our customers. Every day.

Note: Abcam will be relocating in November 2018 to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus
