This position is for a senior sales director with experience in B2B SaaS and technology-focused companies. The job is UK based, with flexible home working within reasonable distance of our Cambridge or London offices.

As Iprova’s Director of Sales you will work in an exciting, high-energy, creative and fast-moving scale-up environment. You will lead our revenue growth through both our invention offering as well as our new SaaS business, which we recently launched, enabling our customers to set up their own data-driven invention lab based on our technology.

What you will be doing

This hands-on role is your chance to lead and own part of Iprova’s sales activities. You will:

Be part of the management team, working with our talented team of researchers and software developers to develop our existing invention service offering, as well as our SaaS licensing business in order to drive sales.

Help to develop and implement the sales plan, taking responsibility for the creation and delivery of key objectives, to be used as part of Iprova’s business plan.

Actively seek out, and pursue new sales prospects through networking, social media and/or other appropriate means.

Help to define customer needs which our current and future versions of our SaaS proposition can address.

Work closely with the rest of the business development team, specifically with feedback on sales activities – what works well and what works less well with our proposition

Together with the marketing manager, create and update sales collateral and other marketing materials.

Represent Iprova at events and act as an advocate for the company. Participate on behalf of the company in exhibitions, conferences, webinar events.

Assist in growing the sales and commercial teams, and nurture the skills of others in the company to help create a unified offering in our two businesses

What interests us in a candidate

You have a strong background and track record in technical or software (SaaS) B2B sales. You will have senior level contacts in the IP, CTO, or marketing teams of large product-based companies.

You are a hands-on, creative, and experienced sales professional with a love of technology and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts accurately and simply, plus understand how to convey the business benefits of technologies.

You have a proven history of successfully generating inbound leads, and then subsequently negotiating and closing the deals.

You have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable reaching out to potential customers to demonstrate our services and products through email and phone.

Ideally you will have an appreciation and knowledge of Intellectual Property and associated markets.

Key qualities and skills

You are a self-starter with 5 years+ experience in commercial or sales roles. You are also comfortable working remotely on your own, and/or work as part of a larger team and/or lead a team remotely to fulfill and exceed the sales plan.

You have a degree in a numerate subject, or equivalent, relevant professional qualifications.

You excel in the preparation and delivery of appropriate presentations on products and services

You have excellent written, communication and public presentation skills in English.

Preferred qualifications

Proven capability in helping build businesses from “bottom up” to becoming significant players.

Demonstrated international leadership in sales or marketing roles, ideally in technical or software fields.
