About the role

A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Cost and Inventory Specialist to join our fast-paced and dynamic FP&A team. This is a brand-new role within the team, reporting to the Cost and Inventory Manager. You will play a pivotal part in shaping how Abcam improves its inventory valuation and gross margin analysis as we transition to new systems, including Oracle Fusion.

 

We are looking for an expert in its field able to not only understand but also build complex costing models, review existing ones and make suggestions for improvement of current processes and reports.

 

Please note this is not a transactional role and requires someone with solid and proven expertise in the cost accounting field.

About the FP&A team at Abcam

The FP&A department at Abcam is rapidly growing and evolving having been formed as a sister function to our core Finance team in 2015. The aim of all of our FP&A colleagues is to support the various global business units, providing useful and insightful information to the senior and executives leaders to support and add value through the decision making, financial planning and budget management process.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Design inventory and costing reports to support group inventory valuation
  • Support group costing and inventory valuation process improvements, including complex excel modelling where appropriate
  • Work with ERP project team (implementing Oracle Fusion financials) to ensure Inventory and Costing continuity and correctness, through detailed design to go-live
  • Liaise with IT and BI teams to support the building of improved inventory valuation and provision reports
  • Support Cost and Inventory Manager with various ongoing and upcoming costing projects, such as intercompany transfer pricing and customs valuation
About you

You are a highly experienced Cost Accountant / Inventory Specialist who fully understand how costing analysis works and who are able to build complex costing and inventory models, mainly using Excel. You will need to be able to quickly hit the ground running when joining the team.


You understand how to apportion costs and are expert at inventory and gross margin analysis and reporting.


You will have built your experience within either a Life Science or Manufacturing environment, meaning you understand how the value chain comes together in such contexts.


In addition, you are inquisitive, proactive, highly motivated and keen to make a difference!
