We are looking for a lead hardware design engineer who wants to use their FPGA/ASIC and electronics design skills to develop breakthrough technology and world-class products. As a principal electronics engineer you will create the hardware system architecture for products as well as provide leadership to more junior engineers. We also offer a huge variety of exciting client projects, where you will get to see your ideas go from the whiteboard to manufacturing production.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design wireless systems and products for our clients. You will be responsible for all stages of the design: from initial discussions with the client, developing a system-architecture, through to detailed-design, debug and transfer to manufacture.

The Digital Systems Group works closely with other disciplines to create cutting-edge wireless products. At the lead hardware engineer on a project you will enjoy lots of responsibility. Recent examples of our product development work for clients include a pocket-sized mobile-phone basestation, the world’s smallest satellite modem and our breakthrough Pizzicato digital radio transmitter and receiver technology.
- Creating design ideas that meet the client’s needs
- Technical leadership for the hardware architecture and design of products
- Board-level electronics design
- FPGA and ASIC design through Verilog or VHDL
- Debugging your design in the lab and transferring it to manufacture

To meet the requirements of this role you will have:
- An excellent first degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience designing electronic circuits
- Experience of Verilog or VHDL coding for FPGA or ASIC
- Good communication skills
- An enthusiasm for designing things and making them work
In addition, experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
- PCB design
- Digital Signal Processing
- Radio system design
- Microprocessor board design and programming
