About us

Nuclera is a fast-growing biotech company based on the Cambridge Science Park. Our mission is to provide life science researchers intuitive, powerful, and time-saving tools to engineer biology. Our first product will be a benchtop instrument capable of cartridge-based next-day gene and protein synthesis. Using our instrument, scientists in the synthetic biology and therapeutic market sectors can rely on a standardised, next-day supply of genes and proteins that integrates with their engineering biology workflows. Our instrument will allow R&D-intensive businesses to streamline their biodiscovery processes, resulting in better resource allocation and accelerated return on investment.

We are seeking our first business development manager to strengthen Nuclera's commercial readiness

You will join the growing team who is developing a desktop gene and protein printer for life science researchers. This position is based in the Cambridge Science Park and would suit a keen, enthusiastic and collaborative professional. To thrive in this role you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, willing to take on responsibility, and excited to engage with internal and external stakeholders and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the formulation and promotion of the business vision
  • Development and refinement of the business case for each of Nuclera's product development initiatives
  • Take responsibility for tracking business requirements and business acceptance criteria for each of Nuclera's product development initiatives
  • Manage the development, distribution, and baseline approval of all communication related to business requirements and their interpretation
  • Ensure that the business and organisational implications of day-to-day evolution of the developing product are properly modelled and thought through
  • Ensure the impact of business decisions is reviewed in context to product development initiatives
  • Identify and engage early access trialists and prospective key customers among both academic and industrial customers
  • Perform market and customer surveys to better understand unmet demand and refine product-market fit
  • Carry out all the steps in the Sales Funnel from generating leads to win/loss analysis
  • Accurately document customer engagement activities in CRM software in a timely fashion
  • Prepare sales forecast report with high accuracy

To meet these challenges, the candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an engineering or natural science field of study
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a sociable and confident personality
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex scientific principles and ideas
  • Demonstrated command of essential sales techniques and skills to effectively engage with customer's senior management
  • Ability to handle complex decision-making scenarios
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Familiarity with commercial sales and marketing tools to capture and understand the market
  • Demonstrated customer management skills
  • Effective oral and written communication as well as good listening skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software
  •  
  • Experience/knowledge in the following areas would be advantageous:
  • A PhD or equivalent experience in a biotechnology, engineering, or natural science field
  • Experience in drug discovery, bio-pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment
  • Sales experience in the life science research tools industry
  • Key Account Management experience
  • Working experience in North America and EMEA
  • Working in an environment operating project management philosophies (e.g., AgilePM)
