Abcam: Finance Trainee - Inventory & Costing

As a Finance Trainee, you will be involved in the weekly stock management of our first-class scientific products, supporting the team with ensuring stock movements are recorded accurately at all times. You will also be involved in month-end activities, stock write-offs, cost accuracy tracking and other activities as relevant within the department.

You will work closely with and assist team members based at our global Headquarter in Cambridge, in China and the US. You will receive mentoring and support from some of your close team members, including:

Roles and responsibilities

• Support with recording accurate products stock movement, liaising with our Logistics department when relevant.
• Perform invoice coding and transaction clearing on the system.
• Support with ensuring the timings around our products processes are accurate in order to maintain as accurate costings as possible, liaising with our Manufacturing department when relevant.
• Monitor and record stock write-offs (scrap transactions).
• Additional duties as and when relevant for the department.

About you

You already have completed your AAT Level 3 and are keen to complete your AAT Level 4 and CIMA for which we will support you.

You have got a first experience within a finance/accounting department, with a solid understanding of basic accounting principles.

You are passionate about Finance & Accounting and have got the ambition to continue your learning journey and continuously improve your skills set. You have strong analytical skills as you be dealing with costing spreadsheets and related accounting systems on a daily basis.

You will liaise regularly with our colleagues globally as well as the Logistics and Manufacturing departments therefore you will need to be a confident communicator, happy to pick up the phone when necessary.
