Volumetric video content and 3D visual models can be created using techniques such as stereoscopic/multiview camera arrays, scanning with RGB-D/laser sensors, and photogrammetry with light detection and ranging (LiDAR) mapping. As the demand for more interactive and realistic imaging increases, we will see more and more volumetric video content in our lives. Companies are starting to use 3D modelling in their product designs, and embed 3D video players on their websites for marketing and commercial purposes; and the general public will share 3D videos and immersive experiences on social media using their smart phones. As AR/VR platforms develop further, industry is finding applications for ‘digital twins’, where virtual representations of real-time physical objects and processes can be employed as digital counterparts to improve communication, efficiency and quality in production.
This online event will open up the science and applications of multi-dimensional imaging. Drawing on speakers who are the leading exponents of this exciting technology area, they will present a comprehensive picture of the state-of-the-art in creation, processing, transmission and display of volumetric video content.
This event will link into a future “hands-on-line” workshop/sandpit event, at which delegates will not only learn how to create and manipulate volumetric AV content, but will be able to discuss new applications and potential partnership projects with relevant players in the sector.
Employees of CW member organisations can attend this event for free. You will need to be logged into your CW account to access your free ticket – log in (or reset your password here)
Tickets for non-members are £25 plus VAT.
