History Planning for the village began in the late 1950s in order to alleviate the housing shortage in South Cambridgeshire. The first residents arrived in 1967 and the village was completed in 1989. From a community point of view, Bar Hill has been a success with a branch library, primary school, village hall, church centre and social club providing a focus for recreational and leisure activities in the village.
