DuoFertility Device to Feature at World Congress
THE creators of a ground-breaking British fertility device, from Cambridge Temperature Concepts, are to deliver significant findings at an international infertility and obstetrics conference in Berlin next month.
Dr Oriane Chausiaux, one of the pioneering Cambridge-based scientists behind the DuoFertility system, will tell delegates at the World Congress on Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Infertility that their device is as effective as IVF for couples struggling to conceive.
The congress, which runs from November 4th to 7th, sees physicians, scientists and researchers coming together to debate a variety of controversial issues and to hear of the most recent advances in reproductive medicine and obstetrics practice.
Dr Chausiaux’s presentation will come hot on the heels of a well received speech at the World Association of Reproductive Medicine earlier this month, in which she explained to surgeons and specialists how successful the device had already proven among hundreds of couples who had experienced so-called ‘unexplained fertility’.
The handheld device is in use across the UK and Europe and has seen numerous couples successfully conceive during their use of the product. It accurately predicts fertile days by automatically monitoring body temperature up to 20,000 times each day, and relaying these over the internet to Cambridgeshire based fertility consultants.
As Chief Scientific Officer, Dr Chausiaux will tell the accomplished audience at the World Congress how the DuoFertility programme of research resulted in a pregnancy success rate of 19.5% after six months.*
She said: “We are delighted to be presenting such significant data at this event, particularly after the great feedback from the 5th Biennial Congress of the World Association of Reproductive Medicine earlier this month.
“What we now know as a result of our work, is that for certain causes of infertility, DuoFertility is as effective as IVF. Clearly there are some infertility issues where the use of the device is unable to aid pregnancy such as a complete lack of sperm, however for a range of common causes such as moderate male factors, cycle irregularity, secondary or unexplained infertility, our monitoring device is achieving great results.”
The device itself was invented and launched by a team of Cambridge University scientists, eager to help couples suffering from ‘unexplained infertility’. The condition is such that it accounts for one third of all couples attempting IVF.
