15 January 2014: Did you know there are around 60,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK every year?1 When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 10 per cent.
KISS, the integrated marketing agency based in Cambridge, London and Royston, is offering its clients and local businesses on and around the Cambridge Science Park the chance to learn emergency life-saving skills with the British Heart Foundation’s Heart Start training scheme. The event will be held at the Trinity Centre on Friday 31st January with two sessions running from 1:00-3:00pm and 3:30-5:30pm.
Simon Fryer, CEO of KISS, explains, “We are hosting the ‘KISS of Life’ in the hope that we will ultimately be involved in saving at least one life. With over 100,000 men and women suffering from heart attacks in the UK every year possessing the knowledge that could help save someone’s life in an emergency is truly invaluable.”
Simon continues, “The sessions are free to attend with any donations made going towards funding essential heart resuscitation training equipment to ensure more people are given the chance to learn these life-saving skills, as well as to fund a cardiac nurse working on the BHF Heart Helpline. These nurses enable heart patients and their families to learn more about their heart condition and help them to take control of their own health.”
The British Heart Foundation helps to fund thousands of projects around the UK that are helping to fight heart disease, as well as supporting millions of people each year who are affected by some form of heart disease.
