Junior Software Developers

Opportunities for two junior software developers with the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The Applications Development team at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is responsible for creating and modifying software for use within the RSC and by chemists and scientists worldwide.

Our junior software developers work alongside experienced developers, software testers and product managers to deliver high quality software across a range of applications.

You will design, code, test, correct and document programs and program modifications from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools and assist in implementing software which forms part of a properly engineered system. You will also maintain awareness and communicate changes and practices in software development to colleagues.

We are looking for:

  • Knowledge of programming tools and techniques, with a preference for C# and Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of internet technologies (HTTP, DNS, etc.)
  • Microsoft certifications (or a willingness to work towards it)
  • Enthusiasm for both technology and software
  • Good communication skills with the ability to make yourself understood
  • Self-motivated with an organised approach to your work
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to research and document issues and their solutions
  • The ability to drill down into the components of a system to find out how they work

At the Royal Society of Chemistry, we will support you in your career and reward your contribution with a great benefits package: http://www.rsc.org/about-us/work-for-us/#benefits.
