Horizon Discovery (HD) is a leading provider of research tools to support the development of personalized medicines.

The Company’s proprietary virally-mediated gene-engineering technology, GENESIS™, enables any endogenous gene in a human cell-line to be altered quickly, reliably and without introducing unwanted and confounding genotypes and/or phenotypes. Using GENESIS, Horizon Discovery has developed X-MAN™(Gene-X; Mutant And Normal) cell models, which are the world’s first source of genetically-defined and patient-relevant human cell lines.

To support the continued expansion of Horizon Discovery we are recruiting for a team leader position within Horizon Discovery Services (HDS).  HDS provides oncology translational research services to the biotech and pharma community, supporting drug discovery programmes throughout the pre-clinical process.  Key functions include target validation and compound screening.   Additionally, HDS has a number of internal research and development programmes focused on application of the X-MAN models, and as such are the world leaders in the use of the cell lines.

Ideal candidates will hold a relevant PhD and/or at least 5 years practical experience of cell biology, ideally in the oncology field.  Drug discovery and project management experience are essential.  The candidate should be able to work independently, as well as within a team, and must have strong data analysis and interpretation skills.  Line management experience would be highly advantageous.

The role will involve:

·     Hands on practical work in the laboratory

·     Complex assay development

·     Training and line management duties

·     Project and client management

Candidates must be well organized, highly self-motivated and able to work to tight timelines.  Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
