Horizon Discovery (HD) is a leading provider of research tools to support the development of personalized medicines.

The Company’s proprietary virally-mediated gene-engineering technology, GENESIS™, enables any endogenous gene in a human cell-line to be altered quickly, reliably and without introducing unwanted and confounding genotypes and/or phenotypes. Using GENESIS, Horizon Discovery has developed X-MAN™(Gene-X; Mutant And Normal) cell models, which are the world’s first source of genetically-defined and patient-relevant human cell lines.

To support the continued expansion of HD we are looking for additional members to join our Cell Engineering Team.  The group is responsible for producing custom isogenic cell lines to meet client requirements.

We are seeking scientists, with experience in molecular biology, cell biology, virology, genetics or oncology, degree educated or equivalent with up to 2 years laboratory experience, and those that hold a relevant PhD with appropriate practical experience.  The ideal candidate will have experience of cell culture (good aseptic technique) molecular biology including gDNA and RNA isolation, PCR (gDNA, RT-PCR) and an understanding of genetics. Additional training will be provided as required.

You will join a team responsible for: characterisation of parental cell lines, design of targeting vectors, production of targeting virus, infection of cell lines, screening clones, archiving cell lines and confirmation of positive clones for hand over to the Cell Validation Team.

You will be motivated, a team player, and have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and good record keeping.
