Closing date: 2017-12-18

About the Role

Abcam, a leading and innovative bioscience organisation, is looking for two Logistics Technicians to join the team at our global Headquarters on the Science Park in Cambridge.

Our Logistics Technicians are empowered to take the initiative, make decisions and manage their own workflow. A typical day could include receiving stock from one of our global production facilities, and prioritising products for processing. You could then be using our cutting edge, temperature-controlled automated ComPOUND® system to store products.

You may then spend the afternoon aliquoting and preparing stock for customers, testing samples to ensure they meet our strict quality criteria, or preparing orders ready to be dispatched to our global customer base. Each day will be different and as the company continues to grow, we always have plenty to keep us busy!

Our Technicians also have a specific project for which they are responsible (E.G. looking at new ways to package our products/evaluating new I.T. systems to help us run more efficiently) and you will be assigned a project to manage based on the key strengths you bring to the team. Our Technicians are a key part of our business and we empower them to make decisions and refine our processes on a daily basis.

The working environment is fun and fast-paced, with everybody working together as a team to deliver great service to our customers.

About you

We are looking for someone who is confident, can communicate effectively and demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail. The successful candidate will be proactive and willing to learn new skills, adaptable, motivated and enthusiastic. You will be expected to work as part of a team who consistently meet tight deadlines, but also have the confidence and drive to work effectively as an individual.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good team working skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively
  • Computer literate (knowledge of Excel is essential)
  • Great time management and organisational skills
  • Previous laboratory or warehouse experience (ideally)
  • 2:1 degree desirable
  • Experience of aliquoting and the use of flow hoods (desirable)
